How each euro is spent
All public spending, by what it turns into.
How to read this
The figures are the spending of all administrations together (central government, regions, local councils and Social Security), counted only once. “Per person” divides by the whole population, including children and pensioners. To compare across years and with Europe, the share of GDP is used, which does not depend on inflation or on the size of each country.
